Sewtec Automation Support Local Young People!11 May 2022
Sewtec Automation are helping local young people achieve their ambitions, through the CAPA College Founding Patron’s Scheme.
CAPA College is Wakefield’s only Free School and one of the most exciting and innovative education providers in the North of England. Through the provision of FREE Arts education, for students aged 16-19, CAPA College is helping young people pursue their dreams of becoming the next Hollywood star, Oscar-winning filmmaker, director, choreographer, entrepreneur or creative.
Over two years of study, students achieve the equivalent of four A Levels, a portfolio filled with transferrable skills and all of the performance experience the need to progress to Higher Education and their chosen professional careers in Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre or Production Arts and Media.
Currently in temporary accommodation, CAPA College will open the doors to their new multi-million-pound, state-of-the-art facilities on Mulberry Way (opposite Wakefield Westgate train station) in September 2022. It will house industry standard teaching facilities, the incredible Mulberry Playhouse (a 150-seat, fully-equipped theatre), a studio theatre, an outdoor amphitheatre, the eagerly anticipated Yorkshire Picture House (a bespoke arthouse cinema) and The Green Room (a public café/bar/restaurant).
Sewtec Automation have become Founding Patrons of CAPA College and our support will help to fund essential technical teaching equipment in the brand new building. As a Founding Patron we will receive substantial profile at the new CAPA College site.
- Our name on a star on the Hollywood style’ Pathway to the Stars’
- Our name on a brick in the amphitheatre Brick by Brick campaign
- Our name on the Founding Patron’s plaque in the building’s central foyer.
A high number of CAPA College students come from areas where young people are least likely to progress to University. Despite this, 99% of graduates last year gained University places. We are helping local young people to overcome barriers, progress to Higher Education, enter creative industries and fulfill their ambitions.
CAPA College is part of Enhance Academy Trust, an exempt charity.
At Sewtec, we are delighted to announce our partnership with CAPA. As a local business, we strive to ensure we do everything we can to support our local community and, importantly, our younger generation. Traditionally, we have supported young adults in engineering through our connection with local colleges and schools, but we are also committed to supporting those students in other disciplines. We look forward to being a part of their journey by supporting them via the CAPA College Founding Patron’s Scheme.
