Sewtec named SME of the year at Yorkshire Business Awards 2019
13 December 2019Sewtec has won the SME of the year category at this year’s Yorkshire Business Awards.
Organised by childrens’ charity Variety, the awards ceremony celebrates the very best of the Yorkshire’s businesses and champions the region’s excellent achievements.
We came out on top in the competitive SME of the year category, recognising our growth, successes and achievements in 2019. Held at the Queens Hotel, Leeds, on December 6, business leaders from around the region came together at the glittering ceremony to support Variety.
Commenting on our award win, Sewtec managing director, Mark Cook, said: “To be named SME of the year is testament to the ongoing efforts and fantastic work of the whole Sewtec team. I’m very proud of everyone who has been involved in helping us win this award.
“It’s a fantastic way to end the year for Sewtec, and we look forward to continuing working at pace to achieve our growth plans in 2020 and beyond.”
Our win at the Yorkshire Business Awards follows the double success at the 2019 Yorkshire Post Excellence In Business Awards, where we picked up the accolade in the companies turning over £10m-£50m category and our managing director Mark Cook took home the business leader of the year award.
Since Sewtec completed a management buyout backed by Leeds-headquartered private equity firm Endless in August 2017, we have undergone a period of transformational change and is currently implementing a recruitment campaign to enable further sustainable, profitable growth.
As part of our growth strategy, we’re aiming to reach £50m turnover by 2023 and have 190 employees working as part of the Sewtec team. We’ve also announced that we will relocate to a new 75,000 sq ft facility in Wakefield as we continue to implement our transformation strategy.
