Controls Engineer

We’re seeking the skills of an experienced controls engineer to join a world-leading team which creates bespoke automation solutions.

Purpose of the role

In the role, you’ll be tasked with producing design documentation in accordance with our customer requirements and then programming our innovative systems according to the approved design documents. To complete the project, the controls/commissioning engineer will be responsible for the testing and commissioning of the systems on the customer premises.

You’ll report into the controls director, ensuring the relevant software design documents are issued in line with the build schedule and enabling agreed client deliveries to be met. We pride ourselves on our standards, so collaborating with our electrical engineers and design team to make sure quality is maintained will be high on your agenda in this precision engineering workplace.

Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with our electrical engineers. From providing technical support in design review meetings, to planning resource requirements and reporting on project performance, you’ll become an integral part of helping build innovative, cutting-edge systems.

As controls/commissioning engineer, you’ll possess a good understanding of engineering principles in control system design. Being both competent and confident in all technical aspects of control system design, being able to develop special purpose machinery is a skill you’ll have gained in your previous employment within a similar precision engineering environment.

With strong interpersonal skills, you’ll be comfortable and confident in communicating with both client and the wider Sewtec team. Our controls/commissioning engineer will have a strong ethos of teamwork and also have the initiative to work alone. And with no two projects ever being the same, you’ll happily roll up your sleeves and challenge yourself in any situation to find the right solution.

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do, so you’ll need to have experience working in a cutting-edge environment where you’ve helped develop advanced systems. Evaluating technical requirements, providing viable solutions, and identifying and reporting long and short-term project resource requirements for our bespoke automation solutions will also be a part of your role.
