Challenge
Our customer had a requirement to assemble their product at a rate of 300 parts per minute, with a minimum footprint.
Invention
Sewtec engineers proposed an automated assembly machine which would see the desired rate achieved through a combination of continuous motion cam-driven modules and Servo controlled intermittent actuators.
For the cam section of the machine, a single Servo motor runs the drive shaft which, in turn, moves the desmodromic cams; this style was chosen to ensure positive placement of the followers to prevent any cam bounce or excessive machine vibration when operating at high speed. The cams receive constant lubrication via a self-contained cam bath, with its own oil pumped lube set.
Results
The result is an automated assembly machine which runs at the required production rate, with a compact footprint.
