Sewtec Apprentice Receives Award

15 September 2023

Electrical Apprentice Tom Frain recently received an apprenticeship award.

Tom was first introduced to Sewtec when we attended Castleford College to talk to the Engineering students about the different apprenticeships we offer.  We gave students the opportunity to come to Sewtec for a weeks work experience and Tom was eager to take us up on this.  Throughout the week, Tom spent time in different departments and this is where he realised how much he wanted to pursue a career in electrical engineering.  Tom was enrolled at Appris and started his apprenticeship with us in October 2022.

For the past year, Tom has shown enthusiasm and passion for electrical engineering and we was therefore delighted to hear that he had been nominated for an award by Appris after completing his first year.  The event was to celebrate the hard work, dedication and achievements of apprentices during their time spent at the training centre and so it came as no surprise that Tom had been nominated.  It was a great honour to see Tom be awarded the Level 2 Electrical Knowledge Award.

The event was held at Appris’ training centre in Bradford and in attendance with Tom was Joanne Carrington, HR Manager and Mark Oldroyd, Lead Electrical Fitter.

Joanne Carrington -“I am extremely proud of Tom’s achievements in his first year as an apprentice and I am looking forward to seeing him progress in his apprenticeship and continuing what we hope will be a long and successful career at Sewtec.”

At Sewtec we continue to see apprentices as long-term investments. Our goal is to help nurture the next generation of talent whilst growing our workforce to meet our strategic objectives and we have already begun the journey to recruit our next cohort of apprentices.
