Sewtec Charity Fundraising 2020
24 December 2020Despite 2020 being a turbulent year, we are proud of all our colleagues who have been so generous and donated to some fantastic charities.
Charities have especially suffered from a lack of donations and fundraising opportunities this year, which is why we are proud to have been able to raise money through various fundraising activities!
If you’re looking for fundraising inspiration, take a look at the various ways we raised money this year:
Coffee Morning
Our colleagues baked and bought sweet treats at our coffee morning in September, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We also hosted a cake quiz and our senior management team judged the best bake!
Raising awareness of small, local organisations
We donated food vouchers to Ossett Food Response, who deliver homemade hot meals to those who may not have one that day. The organisation is run by one of our colleagues, who offers this service completely free of charge.
Clothing and toiletries donations
Throughout November, we collected donations of clothing, blankets, and toiletries for Foundation, an organisation who work in locations across the North of England to tackle social exclusion of all kinds. In doing so, they support 3,000 people including adults with drug and alcohol problems, women suffering from domestic violence, the young and the vulnerable, the homeless and people at risk of homelessness.
Christmas Jumper Day
Our colleagues wore their very best Christmas jumpers on Friday 11th December and donated £2 each to raise money for Save the Children, an organisation that supports children in the UK and around the world, making sure they are safe and healthy, and become who they want to be.
Big breakfast order
Our colleagues paid £5 each for a breakfast sandwich from one of our local cafes, with the change collected and donated to Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust. Northorpe Hall is an independent charity, working closely with the NHS and Kirklees Council health and care services. Their staff and volunteers provide essential services supporting the health and wellbeing of Kirklees children, young people and families. With the money raised, we will be sponsoring their kettle and biscuit tin, which ensures a welcoming hot drink and snack is available to children, parent/carers, volunteers and staff.
Hamper raffle
We sold raffle tickets to win this fantastic hamper! Money raised went to the Sapphire Supremes Majorettes, an award-winning dance troupe based in Stanley, Wakefield.
Advent calendar raffle
Throughout December, we ran a charity advent calendar raffle, where our colleagues were in with a chance of winning a prize every day until Christmas Eve. Our suppliers donated some fantastic prizes, including crates of beer, bottles of wine, Amazon speakers, Apple air pods, and more!
Proceeds from our advent calendar raffle were donated to the Wakefield Riding for the Disabled Association, who provide horse riding for people with disabilities to improve their general health and well-being. They also provide training and qualifications in horse care and riding for young people.
