Sewtec Successfully Hosts First Family Open Day

16 September 2022

Encouraging our team members to bring their families to the workplace for a day filled with learning, entertainment and discussion, Sewtec’s Family Open Day was the perfect way to showcase some of the amazing work we do here at Sewtec.

Hosted in support of local charities, it was a fantastic opportunity to raise money and make a difference within the Wakefield area we call home.

The 10th September 2022 was the first of its kind here at Sewtec. Our inaugural Family Open Day was months in the planning, and it was fantastic to finally see the event unfold. With more than 140 attendees, Automation House was buzzing with atmosphere. It was truly amazing to see such a range of families, some even spanning three generations.

With employee-led tours throughout our 75,000 sq ft headquarters, our team members had the opportunity to show off their workspaces and all the various departments across the company, and really delve into what they truly do for Sewtec.

There was plenty of fun to be had too!

Both the table football and golf robot, kindly lent to us by Fanuc and Schneider Electric respectively, provided lots of entertainment for all ages – It really isn’t easy trying to outsmart a robot!

A magician put on an entertaining show that the children loved – it was great to hear the room filled with their laughter as they all joined in.

And what would an event like our open day be without live music? ‘Ed and Jenson’ put on a fantastic performance whilst also fitting in with the family theme – they’re actually the sons of employees here at Sewtec.

Our team members enjoyed delicious authentic Italian wood-fired pizzas for lunch, something that went down very well amongst all.

Our Business Support Director, Mark Atkins, also hosted various fund-raising activities, ranging from a raffle to guessing the name of our Technical Director’s new dog and a robot creation competition for the children, amongst others.

Our raffle was filled with a fantastic range of prizes, most of which were donated very kindly by companies we work very closely with both in the local area and further afield.

We’re overjoyed to announce that we raised a fantastic £633 for local charities! This simply wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing team members & their families who attended and donated. To them, we want to extend a big thank you.

We’re looking forward to planning next year’s Family Day!
