Sewtec welcomes talented new recruits as demand for automation increases

In September of this year, we completed our move to a new 75,000 sq. ft site in Wakefield, where we plan to continue our expansion and create over 60 new jobs for the local area. We have most recently recruited four new technical sales managers Ray Daniel, Matthew Taylor, Spencer Whale, and Olivia Collyer.

For example, there has been an increase in demand from food manufacturers looking for safer, more efficient alternatives to manual labour due to social distancing measures put in place and a shortage of labour.

This year we have seen some encouraging financial results despite the C-19 pandemic, which demonstrates the importance automation has in the future of manufacturing. I am proud of what the team at Sewtec are achieving and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in 2021.”

Ray Daniel joins Sewtec with over 20 years’ experience in bespoke solutions for packaging sales and automation in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors, having previously worked with companies such as Mpac Group, Schubert UK, and Harro Hoefliger. Specialising in medical and pharmaceutical products, Ray joins three other recent recruits, targeting various sectors within the automated product handling and packaging industries.

Matthew Taylor joins the company from packaging machine manufacturers, MULTIVAC. With a first-class degree in electrical engineering, Matthew brings with him over 22 years of international automation experience and will be specialising in food and pet food products.

Spencer Whale, specialising in personal care and cosmetic products, has over 21 years’ experience in engineering and packaging sales, having previously worked for automated measurement and testing machinery manufacturer Torus Measurement Systems.

Olivia Collyer joins Sewtec to head up our latest product portfolio of packaging machines, ranging from case erectors to palletising systems. With a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and 3 years’ experience in sales and engineering, Olivia will play a key role in driving the market awareness for the recently launched range of standard products.

Sewtec announced another strong financial year of £23m turnover and an EBITDA of £7.4m for the financial year to 30 June 2020. The new appointments are part of our ambitious growth plans to achieve £50m turnover and increase headcount to 190 staff by 2023.
