St Peter’s Consort prepare to celebrate their 40th Anniversary

For 2023 The St Peter’s Consort are celebrating their 40th Anniversary and always hoped to be able to hold a concert that is fitting for such an occasion.

Colin Powell, Chairman – “Our last few concerts have proved to be more costly than expected and also as we escaped the clutches of the Pandemic, ticket sales were lower than normal.  I knew that in my role as Chairman, it would fall to me to go in search of some funding for this most important and celebratory event.

Sewtec Automation were the first company I reached out to and was thoroughly interested in our cause and immensely supportive.  Without the support of Sewtec and our other sponsors we simply wouldn’t be able to employ the services of high quality musicians like Austonley Brass and hold the event in a wonderful venue such as Wakefield Cathedral.  We are hopeful that these two factors alone will encourage a greater number of people to our concert – giving the choir, band and of course our sponsors some well-deserved additional publicity.  This funding has truly made the difference between a good performance and a great one and I sincerely hope that it will be a thoroughly joyous occasion, enjoyed by all.”

Mark Atkins, Director of Business Support – “When Colin first contacted Sewtec and asked us if there was anyway we would consider supporting their 40th anniversary event at the Wakefield Cathedral we did not hesitate to say yes.  We continue to support a number of community initiatives and to be asked to be involved in an event which is to be held at such a Wakefield landmark is an honour for Sewtec.”
